The big night in London lived up to all our expectations. We've done recordings in many great venues but none quite like the Union Chapel. Considered the best venue in London, this 17th century "high gothic victorian" church offers some crazy acoustics and a unique in-the-round feeling to the show...and was this the show to see/hear. With John McCusker joining the usual suspects on fiddle, this night was the highlight of the Kufala UK Tour. With over 2 hours of Eddi at her best, it's hard to even pick highlights from this show but her amazing acappella voice shines on 'Clare' and 'Perfect' was simply perfect on this spring evening. However, the MVP tonight was the audience. Is there a better backup instrument than an audience that can sing? I think not. The audience was ringing through the church on 'Charlie Is My Darling' and a moving version of 'Follow My Tears' that made me want to hop the next boat to New Zealand right now. Thanks go to everyone who attended this special evening, it was our best Eddi Reader recording on this tour because of you. Special thanks to Eddi, Boo, Christine, Graham, Colin and Les for letting us tag along on this tour...great road trip with a great band.
