Night two of Pearl Jam’s 2008 Summer sojourn finds them indoors at the St. Pete Times Forum, home of the Tampa Bay Lightning, and tonight, home to a crowd of rabid and adoring fans who gave the band a very hearty welcome back to the Western coast of Florida. Seizing immediately on the crowd’s energy, the opening “Sometimes” was played with a faster tempo and more urgency than ever before. Giving it their all once again with plenty of variety from their 17-year career, the main set turned the arena into a churning mass with “Why Go,” “Severed Hand,” “Light Years” and “Marker In The Sand,” which remains one of the best rocking songs with a politically vital message you’ll ever find, no matter which side of the fence you’re on. “Present Tense” was another gem that featured Eddie Vedder’s vocal variations offering a unique touch to this version.\r\n\r\n“Nothingman” was delivered to the delight of all as the encore opener, but it was without a doubt the ultra-explosive take on “Porch” that sent this Tampa show to the stratosphere. Mike McCready and Stone Gossard’s twin guitar attack was just monumental here, so click that buy button and enjoy Pearl Jam’s return to the Tampa.
